Visit to the Optometrist

My dad finally decided that he needs a new pair of glasses. We, the family, have been urging him to get his eyes tested and to make a new spectacle for ages but he was adamant that his old one is still ok ...until yesterday, when one of the screws fell off and couldn't be found ...so, he didn't have any choice but to go ...so, off we went ...my dad, al and I ...while my mum and aai stay at home.

While waiting for my dad to get his eyes tested, i was so tempted to get a Bonia sunglasses - it was on sale @ RM130 ...thank god, good sense prevails and remind me that I have a lot of things to buy this month and next month ...hehehehe....

Dad got his eyes tested in this room - the chair looks scary, like the execution chair!

and al and i took also took some photos to pass the time ....and being creative!

pampering day

last friday i finally had the time (and inclination) to go for facial ...it was long overdue! The last facial session was sometimes in June, and I just didnt have the time to go there...but now, my skin is refresh! Plus I had re-stock my Sekkeisi lotion ...and got a few sample as well ...

I finished my session at 5pm, so the traffic was bad...it was made worse by the fact that there was some road maintainence work underway along Central Road ....it took me an hour and a half to get home ...they should not be doing those work when it is peak hours!

now, am waiting for a free time to get my hair done - rebonding and colouring ...when you have kids at home, free time is very elusive!

Father and sons...

Last month my brother came here for a flying visit ..just to see his sons. He also brought his new toy - a remote control car- with him! In Kl, he would play this car at the remote control track at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa (i did a posting on this in http://30-somethinglifeinthefastlane.blogspot.com in July 09). This car actually uses nitro-fuel, which cost about RM45 per litre...

Daddy and Al had a great time together - they clean and dismantle the car together -

and play together.....

and daddy promised adik that he'll buy a remote control car for adik when adik is big enough - something similar to Al's remote mino (and adik can use this posting as proof of daddy's promise :-)...in the meantime, adik is content to play with the tv's remote

Digital natives & digital immigrants

I only heard about the terms digital immigrants and digital natives while attending the PG Diploma in T&L(Module 3)…never heard it before, but after listening and reading about it, I guess it made a lot of sense…

Digital native means that a person is born when all the technologies are widely available and he/she is using these technologies extensively in the daily lives. Mostly those who are born in the 1980s are whom we considered as digital natives – these are the people who are used to playstation, video games, internet, mobile phones, computers and so on. Using technologies comes naturally to them. In other word, native = asal …for example, my two nephews are the digital natives in our family…

On the other hand, we also have the term digital immigrants. I consider myself as a digital immigrant….meaning all these technologies were not available when I was born, and as they are introduced, I began to learn how to utilize these technologies. It does not come naturally to me …and I am proud to say that we have another digital immigrant in the family ….my dad!

He just learn how to use the laptop – and to browse for stuffs in the internet since the beginning of this year.. but able to independently use the laptop on his own a few weeks ago. His is very much into scale-model (esp. war ships and speedboat) as a hobby….and most of the items that he wants are not available in Malaysia, and internet is such a wonderful thing ..he can browse for the various warships, planes and boats at his leisure ….and to think that when he was working in late 1990s and early 00s, he has a brand new computer that he never use! Me and my siblings are the ones who use the computer (in his office) at that time …as well as his colleagues!!! Now he is planning to get his own laptop …hooray for dad!!!!

Haze ...Haze...GO AWAY!!!!!!

The haze is back with a vengeance! Samarahan is one of the hotspot areas whereby the pollution index had been over 100 (i.e. unhealthy) since last week. In fact one day last week, Samarahan was the WORST nationwide in terms of the API…so, it is not surprising that my asthma is playing up…since the haze started, so had my asthma …been feeling a bit under the weather. Been to the doctor last Friday, and again early this morning coz my wheezing .. got an MC for today …

Views of the east campus – last Wednesday!

My residential area – also hazy but not as bad as Samarahan! Pictures to be added later -just realised it is in the camera...not the mobile!

the joy of boxes!

dad was tidying up the store room last Tuesday, and he was using a lot of large boxes to store up our belonging ...

and Al thought it was fun! Especially when dad was "building" up 3 boxes ...Al had a fun time playing inside those boxes, and he actually had a dilemma on which box should he play in! Aahhh it is the case of so many boxes, so little time ...hehehehe

Reasons for coming home early ...

It has been a routine of mine, since I started working here, that i will leave the office after 6pm ...so i'll reach home by 6.30 - and that's the earliest time for me to be home. When I am overwork or chasing a dateline, I am usually home by 8 or even 9pm. But that was before...now that Al and Aai are staying with me ...i try my best to be home as early as possible ...and even then my best is always by 7 pm in these last four weeks...so bogged down with work!

I felt so guilty over these last few weeks coz I know that Al is always waiting for me to get home. If I am not home by the time it was getting dark outside, he will gets cranky (according to my dad) and will throw a tantrum when I finally arrive home...and adik will also do the same ...will cry if i didn't pick up straight up upon reaching the living room! That will make me feel so bad ...

So, these are the faces whom are waiting for me when I get home everyday ....and these are the faces that I often disappointed coz I was always late in the last few weeks ....

He's always like this when I am off to work in the morning ...smiling!

Al, on the other hand, always wave me off from the gate ...instead of inside the house!
